Het resultaat is een buitengewoon indrukwekkende en ontroerende singer-songwriter cd die zich na een paar luisterbeurten ook nog eens manifesteert als een eerste klas groeiplaat. Vooral door de eigenzinnige en de zeer toegankelijke composities maken van " Whom It May Behoove", een tijdloze singer-songwriter cd, die alles heeft dat popmuziek zo mooi maakt. - rootstime
To Whom It May Behoove is muzikaal rijke plaat geworden, die doet denken aan het werk vande Engelse folkmusicus John Martyn. Dat heeft te maken met het hese stemgeluid van Joel. Maar ook de eigenzinnige en toch toegankelijke composities zijn hier debet aan. Vaak hangt er een jaren `60 sfeertje omheen, door het gebruik van een ouderwets orgeltje of een ShangriLa´s-achtig koortje. Na koud 32 minuten is het feest over.
