Description
Victor and Dana Acker (guitar and bass respectively) have been playing their non-traditional style of jazz laced with subtle humor for over 25 years. The two Berklee College of Music alum from Boston have been known to doff their hats openly to a wide and varied range of artists (musical and otherwise) that have influenced them over the years. The music they compose, however, is very much their own. They are also not afraid to use the word "fusion" and have come to wear it as a badge of honor instead of considering it a scarlet letter as do many other jazz artists. However, let it be known that their brand of fusion is decidedly crunchy as opposed to the smooth variety. Indeed their latest release "Dungaree Jazz" is a poly-fusion in the truest sense. It combines elements of jazz, funk, rock, salsa, humor, cha cha, 60s a go-go, something from your parents record collection, samba, waltz, drum n bass, and much more into a hybrid musical gumbo that demands to be played LOUD! It is all at once peculiar, familiar, furious, luscious, mischievous, thick and of course, slammin'! Though the title says "Dungaree Jazz", there's a whole lot more inside. Curious?
