Like A Train
The Story
Only two years after releasing "One", our debut project, Like A Train was already ready to be recorded. All eleven songs were completed. A lot of time was taken in making sure that everything had a very unique sound.
We walked into Makoche Records in Bismarck, ND in the fall of 2004. The first session included recording only three songs for a demo CD which would be sent to various festivals. The second session was all about wrapping up the project.
Like A Train is almost entirely a live record. Except for bass and vocals everything was recorded live in the studio. The purpose was to capture that sense and feeling that can only be felt in a live show. Much care was taken to give this record a very specific feel, which is that of an old classic rock vinyl. The quality is entrancingly clear and the sound still stuns me.
In only two years the band has progressed much. However, Mike Evans is not on Like A Train. Mike Jeffrey appears on Keyboards and backing vocals, a needed and welcomed addition to the band. Jeffrey has added a great deal in the creation of the music and his "Doors-esque" keyboard sounds have added more than we imagined to our sound. Like A Train takes a much more mature approach to the music and should be very exciting to hear.
We still have songs left . . .
-Nathan James
En Gedi the band,
We are a Christian Rock and Blues band called " En Gedi ". We formed in 2000 with my son Nathan on guitar, lead vocals, and myself on drums. I played my first gig in 1976 at Johnny's 83 on the south side of Chicago, I got bit by the bug hard and been jamming ever since. Nathan started playing the guitar at six years old. By the time he was eleven he got into Robin Trower, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. Not long after that he bought a Strat, picked up some Stevie Ray CD's and here we are.
Our keyboard player Mike joined the group in December 2003. Mike blended right in with En Gedi, he too has a lot of Rock and Blues to his background along with a B.S Degree in Sacred Music. We as a group believe that The Lord has called us to write music proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to do our part in furthering His kingdom.
On January 16th Mike's son Aaron joined the group as our bass player, and he gives us the bottom we needed to fill out the sound. It's pretty cool with two dad's and two son's jamming having a blast playing wherever and when ever we can. We hope you like the album and our style, the show is good and we love to play!
Thanks, Gerard
