Description
"Eastern and Western Harmony" is an instrumental journey of music through time: a journey of reflection, romance, reconciliation, and harmony. The album represents a glimpse at the inspirations of the artist Soroush, who brings to life complex feelings and moods in form of melodies that please the ear and move the soul. The music is about love, about longing, about passion, about joy and celebration, and about the melancholies of life - all captured in a mesmerizing array of sounds based on the piano and accompanied by a mixture of Eastern and Western sounds.
In his first album, Soroush follows in the giant footsteps of some of the world's greatest composers by presenting melodies that are often enhanced with a complement of violin, cello, guitar and modern harmonic sounds of South American instrumentations. Soroush is not an evangelist in promoting the Eastern style; with 20 years of experience in the music scene, he skillfully incorporates his style - an international message of harmony - into melodies that are at times Western and at times Eastern. Soroush carves his own path in creating a symphony that has a common roadmap with a variety of themes that keeps the listener tuned in from the beginning to the end.
On the cover of his first album, Soroush chose to commemorate the Bam Citadel, a grand and unique structure which is an icon of the glory days of the Persian Empire. The citadel had stood the test of time and against numerous invasions, until its untimely destruction in a recent devastating earthquake. The image of the citadel, unharmed and whole under the clear blue sky represents Soroush's optimism about life, an enduring outlook that is carried across his music - a music equally pleasant for Western and Eastern audiences. A music describing a journey of hope, glory, and of harmony.
