2005 PARENTS' CHOICE Award Winner
2005 Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award Winner
"Votes are in and your work/inspiration involved in the music of Kaleidoscope Songs is amazing. It's soothing tone and creative lyrics are simply beautiful. Congratulaions on winning the Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award." - Jodie Lynn, Family/Health expert of Parent to Parent, author of Mommy CEO and CEO/Founder of www.addingwisdomaward.com.
"Your music touches my soul. From the opening track "I am" to the end "Bedtime Song" the lyrics and music hit deep inside my psyche - a 45 year old father of one. 'I am', 'Try Again', 'The Who's Who Song', 'Togethe'r, 'Mother', 'My Dad!', and 'Blue Sky Time' are meant for the world to hear. Wow." - Mark L. Curelop, father of one, age 7.
"Scrumptious Music! Pure Energy...gentle truths...humanity...laughter... The CD is a magic kaleidoscope filled with the essence of human emotions. Every time I turn on the CD in the classroom environment the children look up from what they are doing and know it is time to gather on the carpet for singing, laughter, and pure silliness. We all start wiggling and making gestures to accompany each song! It is hysterical! During the BABY song we giggle like babies....and for the Tongue song we stick out our tongues and make silly sounds. Last week during the When I Am Big song a little person stood up during the song and announced that he was getting big."
- Elena Luccia, Toddler teacher.
~Kaleidoscope Songs~
New Music For Children and Families
Music by Alex Mitnick Lyrics by Alan Bell
The ideal of our words and music is to provide an opportunity for you and your child to look inside through the song at your own kaleidoscope of feelings, thoughts and emotions. Singing songs about life, love, and the struggle of growing, you and your child can share experiences. Each from your own perspective.
Beautifully arranged and recorded entirely by live musicians, the soulful and reflective melodies of Kaleidoscope Songs extend the collective moment into conversations about personal growth and relationships. Have fun and sing together as a way of teaching children about values and the importance of reflection.
Kaleidoscope songs about gladness, sadness, or awareness make growing up real. Real fun with words that are easy for children to sing and relate to. The songs will bring adults and children together through the blending of fun, wit and variation. Look into your Kaleidoscope....

What people are saying about Kaleidoscope Songs...
"The music you bring has become an integral part of our classroom. One of our main goals as teachers of 7 & 8 year olds is to teach the children to become part of a group (a totally new concept - in kindergarten they are working as individuals). When we sing it is the only time we breathe together - one breath flowing with the lyrics. One day the children spontaneously lay in the snow and sang Blue Sky Time. Another day we saw a hummingbird in the garden and we sang Blue Sky Time to him - the sky unites all living things. For me personally you have validated my agenda or philosophy of teaching - connect with each other - connect with the natural world. As humans these connections help forge a peaceful balanced person."
- Sally Luke, Teacher of 1st and 2nd grade.
"While singing along with 'My Dad' in the car, my husband began doing some silly version of a sitting chicken dance..quite wildly..while driving! What a RIOT..the children made us play it again and again..and he danced..again and again... Can you just imagine how this looked to the drivers nearby?"
- Patti Cucci, Mother of two, age 4 & 8.
"Children gain meaningful access to language, experiences and relationships through the Kaleidoscope Songs which are full of spirited lyrics and catchy rhythms. Children deserve the pleasure of singing songs that are full of life and meaning. This selection is sure to be enjoyed by teachers, parents, grandparents, and therapists alike. Thanks Alex and Alan for combining your gift of language and music for the pleasure of the families of the world!"
- Marsha Stencel, Head of School - Princeton Montessori School.
"After a busy day at work, picking up my two little ones from school can be pretty hectic. They are tired and often tugging at each other in the back seat. This can make even a short car trip unbearable. Now with the enchanting, tongue tingling music CD called Kaleidoscope Songs One, our drive is delightful. As soon as my children are buckled in they say 'mommy put in THE CD...start at #1 and just turn it up.' Often we are home before the entire CD has finished...so we just sit together in the driveway singing and giggling. I suggest getting two copies of Kaleidoscope Songs Number One... one for the car and another to play in the kitchen while cooking and dancing together."
- Alona Procaccini, Mother of two, age 3 and 6.
"I recently adopted my daughter Emma from the Ukraine. I heard the 'The Family Song' and cried, now my daughter 'has a place with a name in her family home that is her own'. This song has touched my life. All her family days are now new and exciting. Just as the Song says. Thank you for singing such heart felt songs. We look forward to your next new release."
- Bethanne Byrne, Mother of one, age 2.
"It is Mother's Day. This day never feels as special as it seems it should, or as special as Hallmark would like to make you believe. Being a mother is hard and special every day. On this day, my daughter Hannah and I collapse exhausted on the trampoline after some energetic jumping. She begins to sing a song she learned in school that week. It is a song about Mother. We spontaneously begin to rock back and forth to the rhythm, the soles of our feet joined as well as our hands. She sings it over and over, not wanting to stop, until I learn the song well enough to sing along. Hannah smiles with delight. I had heard the children sing the song during school, and now that Hannah shared the song in this way it became so very special. It is a moment shared with Hannah that I will never forget. Those are the moments that mothering is all about. And, oh, there are so few of those moments in one lifetime!"
- Monica Morris, Mother of two, age 7 & 11.
"After the concert, the kids could not wait to play the CD in the Car. They were singing along as we left the parking lot.'
- Eric Soper, Father of two boys, age 5 & 9.

About Alex & Alan:
About Alex Mitnick: "If there is any one way to instantly access the joys of childhood it is through music. If there is any one way to instantly connect with a child it is with music. If there is any one way to sooth the aching cries of a child it is with music! Music expresses that which cannot be expressed with words alone. It is my wish that this music may create the space for you and your child or for you and your students to reflect upon and experience all the joy, wonder and awe that this life has to offer. Enjoy!"
Alex grew up in the suburbs of Boston and then Philadelphia. He graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a degree in Jazz guitar with an emphasis on composition. Alex began teaching music to young children while in college and currently directs the music program from infants to eighth grade at the Princeton Montessori School in Princeton, NJ. He is also on the faculty of the Princeton Center For Teacher Education where he directs workshops for non-"musicians" who wish to incorporate music into their classrooms. Alex also owns and operates Jaisol Productions, a recording studio and music production company.
About Alan Bell: Alan wrote to his stepson Sam - "These are the words and the musical way I wish I had in the days where you and your sister Ella were in school struggling between schoolwork, play time and nothing time - trying to survive the conflict. I was so sensible and that can get to be so boring! These songs will make up for it - Songs were what we needed to mark the moment or start a talk, or give us a lift. You will be able to play these songs for your children and I will still be with you at your side. They are dedicated to you and Ella, and all the children I have ever known and loved."
Born in Durban, South Africa in 1945, Alan grew up in the turbulent years of Apartheid. He pursued a career in the arts as a means for the expression of his passion for justice and his dedication to humanitarian causes. Alan graduated in 1974 from the Johannesburg College of Art. He has worked in adult education and The Johannesburg Children's Home as an art teacher and therapist. Alan is an artist with an extensive experience of children and their needs, family needs, and parent needs. Alan currently lives in Philadelphia, and is the co-founder of Archedream, a dance drama company, and HumanKind, an NGO dedicated to Edutainment in the field of AIDS prevention.
