Description
Who (or What) are Boogah and Hoogah? Think H.R. Puffinstuff as performed by the Munsters while imitating the Rugrats. No, Really! Meanwhile they're singing these really silly songs that (like it or not) you'll take three months to get out of your head...and just when you thought it was safe to go back to the CD player, your four year old will belt out a chorus or two, and then it'll take another three months...and secretly (or not so secretly) you'll be glad you were reminded of them because sometimes you just gotta go "boo woo woo woo woo woo woo...bleah bleah bleah bleah bleah bleah bleah!"* in a rush-hour traffic jam.
Okay, so that's the "artistic" answer...now for the "true-facts" background:
In the summer of 1991, Award-winning children's entertainers Janet Marie & m'Archibald (visit www.imaginationtheatre.com )were presenting a series of family concerts on the lawns of Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. Community Programs Director Sheila Ingerswen and other administrators of the historic site suggested that since so many families in the community were turning out for the performances, perhaps it would be fun to do a Halloween show too. A few days later after performing a summer concert at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi Michigan, the entertainers were approached by Marketing Director Elaine Kah about performing a Halloween show there as well. At the same time the phone was ringing with requests for in-school Halloween concerts and it was decided that something had to be done. The famous Halloween knock-knock joke: "knock knock" "who's there?" "boo" "boo who?" "aw,it's just a joke, you don't have to cry about it!" provided the both the basis for the characters' names, and the silly-spooky attitude that runs giggling through the show to this day.
The idea of a couple of goofy goblins who live in a nearby alternative universe called Schpottsylvania (which is a silly alliteration of Transylvania and not at all related to the lovely town in Ohio with nearly the same name!) and who, with their friendly-monster neighbors, are more afraid of humans than humans are of them, became the foundation for situations, stories and songs which are still being enjoyed in Silly-Spooky live Halloween shows at Somerset Collection (www.thesomersetcollection.com) in Troy Michigan, and now on a music CD called "Boogah and Hoogah's Haunted Houseparty!" and in a DVD of their live 2002 concert "Are You My Monster?"
AND! At the request of lots of the little monsters in their live audience, a second CD of Silly-Spooky singalong songs and a Video Series are already in the works!
AND-AND!! JanetMarie & m'Archibald are pleased and proud to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD to ALLIE'S ANGELS who are dedicated to bringing smiles to children with life threatening illnesses, inspiring children to do charitable work, and finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer.(www.alliesangels.org)
