Description
With the release of Hurt People Hurt People, Chapel Hill based Can Joann emerges as one of the top acts in the fertile independent music scene of based in the Triangle area which has also spawned such groups as The Rosebuds, Ben Folds 5, and Superchunk to name a few. After a successful string of shows supporting the Aiden Grace EP which was praised as "open-and-shut, one of most memorable releases in local pop memory" per well-read Triangle based Independent Magazine (http://www.indyweek.com), Can Joann started forming ideas, songs, and eventually recordings under the roof of a 19th century farm house. The result is Hurt People Hurt People, Can Joann's eagerly anticipated debut full-length released June of 2006.
Can Joann has played to varied crowds and diverse locations ranging from the pretentious head-nodding nook of Chapel Hill to the stale late nights of Miami clubs. Can Joann has played such clubs as the Cat's Cradle & Local 506 (Chapel Hill, NC), Kings (Raleigh, NC), Tasty World (Athens, GA), Ace's Basement (Greensboro, NC), I/O (Miami, FL), & the Soapbox (Wilmington, NC) and has shared the stage w/ such disparate acts as Travis Morrison, The Narrator, Lovedrug, the Strugglers, and The Fever. Thanks for listening.
