CHRISTMAS JAZZ AT PEOPLES CHURCH
Our earlier recording Jazz At Peoples Church: A New Experience was apparently a great experience for so many of you. Its enthusiastic reception inspired us to record these special songs for Christmas.
Christmas, the birthday of Christ Jesus, is such a glorious Holy day that the best expression of its joy is song. So on this recording we sing the songs of Christmas.
There are always so many people to thank. I am especially grateful to those who joined our musical enterprise. Artists such as Alex Jenkins, one of Washingtons most celebrated jazz pianists, and Esther Williams and Shirleta Settles whose golden voices ring with such clarity and whose vocal accomplishments are legendary. Hope Tribble and Bradley Thomas are vocal newcomers but, after hearing them youll agree, we want to hear from them again. Rev. Leslie Dowdell Cannon, the Senior Associate Pastor at Peoples Church, awakens our hearts with a spiritual narration on Silent Night.
Finally, I salute my dear friend, Dr. A. Knighton Stanley, Senior Minister at Peoples Congregational Church of Christ in Washington, DC. His dedication, persistence and extraordinary gifts made all of this possible.
