Arrocata is the moniker for composer Robert Straub.
Robert has been an active musician/composer for over 3 decades. Both formally trained and self-taught, Roberts musical interests and influences span a wide spectrum from Jazz, Progressive Rock, Experimental Ambient, Musique Concrete, Electronic to the Classics.

Robert intuitively utilizes electronic, acoustic and experimental sounds that have become the basis for most of his work and draws inspiration from the expansive, time-suspending open spaces reflected in the deserts of the American Southwest. This blend of experience and inspiration has enabled Robert to weave a distinctive and sublime sonic experience.

In this release, Robert sonically captures the essence of some of his favorite locations in the Sonoran Southwest and he takes you on a journey that will leave you feeling both inspired and tranquil.

To put it another way, this set of recordings will transport you to places where primordial time and the present actually co-exist in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Close your eyes and experience the Sonoran Desert with its blend of mind numbing wide open expanses of raw wilderness, heritage of prehistoric peoples and local lore that still surrounds many these unique locations.
