Description
Pianist/Composer Rave Tesars musical background is deep and wide ranging. As a result, Raves style is a rich blending of classical, jazz and pop, displaying strong technique and an adventurous sense of improvisation. Always a busy freelance musician on the New York jazz scene, Rave has toured and recorded with many artists including: Charlie Rouse, Steve Marcus, Dave Pike, The Istanbul Orchestra, Annie Haslam, Renaissance and Tirez Tirez.
This CD is his latest independent release of all original music. The production quality on this CD is excellent and the compositions are strong and adroitly executed. Rave is joined on this recording by two talented musicians who also have diverse performance backgrounds.
Bassist Kermit Driscoll was a member of Bill Frisells band from 1987 to 1996 and has played and recorded with Patti Austin, Bang-on-a-can All Stars, Chet Baker, Don Byron, Dave Douglas, Michael Feinstein, David Johansen, Buddy Rich, The Pointer Sisters, Elliot Sharp, Phoebe Snow, Toots Thielmans, Mel Torme, John Zorn as well as the New York Philharmonic and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra.
Drummer, Bill Tesar has performed and recorded with: Angela Bofill, Sidiku Buari, Bob Berg, Dave Douglas, Mikel Rouses Broken Consort, Ellery Eskelin, Jerome Harris, Mark Feldman, Vic Juris, Ned Rothenberg and Tirez Tirez.
Together they weave their way telepathically through a variety of compositional styles, from straight ahead classic Jazz arrangements, ethereal modal soundscapes, a fiery Latin offering and adventurous improvisations.
