Description
This album is very long. Sixty-seven minutes and twenty-nine seconds to be exact. It has sixteen songs on it. Its got people singing and playing all manner of instruments. That much we know. Beyond that we go into subjective descriptions that could get interpreted seven ways from Sunday. So, Ill try to make this simple: I think youll dig it. Why wouldnt you: its got songs that taste delicious made from a secret recipe that even the cook has long since forgotten; the melodies will stick to your ribs like butter; the rhythms will have their way with your helpless writhing body; and, of course, the meaning of life will be revealed in the lyrics for those who are worthy.
Beyond that we cant say much. There are credits inside giving information about who plays what and there are many notable talents from the San Francisco bay area listed. We also know that Ricky Skaggs recorded one of this artists songs and that this artist for some mysterious reason has waited almost twenty years to record his own version of this song.
But, still.... what does all this tell us about his music? Nothing. His style could be described as a mixture of folk, rock, country, reggae, salsa, blues, and post-modern neo-classical impressionism, but, ... why would anyone do that? We still dont know what he sounds like!
Ah! But, there is a solution... one that has eluded mankind for eons, but, is now available to us, the chosen generation. Its called sampling. Thanks to the goodness of silicone wafers and caffeinated electrons we now can listen to the music we buy before we buy it and literally alter the course of history by not buying it if it sucks... what times we live in! So, cdbaby searchers, feel free to help yourself to a couple minutes of each and every track for I feel secure in the knowledge that most of these tunes are around four to six minutes and once youve had a small taste of each you will hunger for complete satisfaction (that could happen anywhere between the four and six minutes).
