Description
FLORIDA BLUES (Burning Disk BD005) is the latest CD from Florida native, Bill Wharton, AKA The Sauce Boss. His best work from 1989 through 2004, the disc is slide guitar blues. It features: Lucky Peterson, Kenny Neal, Pat Ramsey, Bob Greenlee, Tony Coleman, The Kingsnake Studio Band, and Whartons band, The Ingredients. The Sauce Boss appeared along side Jimmy Buffett on the Late Nite Menu at the Margaritaville Cafe CD with Let the Big Dog Eat and Great Big Fanny. Let the Big Dog Eat was also featured in Jonathan Demmes movie, Something Wild. Buffett later wrote I Will Play for Gumbowith a verse about the Sauce Boss and his Gumbo show. (In the last sixteen years, Wharton has fed 135,000 people for free, while playing his own swampy Florida blues. He also takes his Gumbo Show to homeless shelters all over the USA.) Florida Blues swims with the gators, sails with the smugglers, and drops a postcard with the blues right in your mailbox. Its the perfect companion to take to the beach.
"He stirs up the crowd as well as the roux, giving his audience a demonstration of both cooking and guitar skills they'll never forget." THE TIMES-PICAYUNE (New Orleans)
"Wharton rips into solos in the same class as Billy Gibbons or Ry Cooder. Aficionados and casual blues fans alike should appreciate what the Sauce Boss cooks up." PERFORMING SONGWRITER MAGAZINE
"Bill Wharton is an American original, the kind of citizen that makes us proud to live in this country . . . Wharton and his band play a rich flavor of blues ... making better records each time out." CMJ NEW MUSIC REPORT
"The inventor of gastronomical blues-boogie." ROCK AND FOLK (France)
