Description
Skizzo Franick was born in Munich/Germany and now lives in Vienna/Austria. Starting at the age of 7, Skiz took classical Piano lessons. In the meantime he also taught himself to play the guitar and the drums. It was the ROLAND Juno 6 from his father which inspired him to make electronic music. This education in classical music combined with his strong interest in synthesizers, samplers and computer based producing is fundamental to each track. After finishing an audio-engineering college and graduating from the university of Munich he is currently completing a Phd at the University of Vienna.
"For me, making music is one way to ask the big questions like "where do we come from?", "where do we go?" and "what is life all about?". Words are very limited in expressing things as they are dependent on general definitions. On the one hand, I am a scientist and therefore I need to, or better to say, I do think very rational. On the other hand, I am an artist and beeing creative has nothing to do with being rational - so far as I know... So being creative and being rational is sometimes weird and doesn't make you happy all the time. But it opens doors to the twilight zones.
My musical influences are somewhat between Kruder & Dorfmeister, Thievery Corporation, Air, Chopin, U2, Nick Cave, Chemical Brothers, Tchaikowsky, The Orb, Morcheeba, Portishead, Herbie Hancock, DJ Shadow, U.N.K.L.E., MassiveAttack, J.J.Cale, The Beatles, Dr. Dre, Beasty Boys, Fatboy Slim, coldplay, Muse, Radiohead, Rage against the Machine, Beethoven, Ennio Moricone, The Cure, MoHorizon, Bob Marley, Dave Brubeck, Lou Reed, Malaxe ...
