Thomas Paul, Basso
Basso singing in six languages, poetic gems laced together from many cultures about human response to lunar eclipse, literally and metaphorically. An evocative chamber work for voice and ten instruments.

Description
The celebrated basso Thomas Paul has been widely acknowledged as one of the most vocally resplendent and musically versatile singers of his generation. Since his Carnegie Hall debut in the sixties, he has distinguished himself with enduring success in an enormous concert and operatic repertoire.
For more than four decades, he has been the frequent guest soloist with The Boston Symphony, The Chicago Symphony, The Cleveland Orchestra, The New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra and every other major symphony orchestra in North America.
In opera, he has performed many major basso roles with The New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera and most other companies in The US and Canada.
Festivals include Aspen, Tanglewood, Mostly Mozart, Meadowbrook, Blossom, Caramoor, Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap and Lincoln Center "Great Performers Series".
International performances in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Zurich, Kiev, Helsinki, Prague, Beijing and Shenyang have included works by Bach, Beethoven, Bartok, Copland, Handel, Haydn, Moussorgsky, Ravel, Rands, Schubert and Shostakovich.
In solo concert, his dramatic song interpretations have evoked frequent comparisons to Chaliapin, Hotter and Kipnis.
For many years, Mr. Paul taught voice at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and was the principal basso of the Aspen Music Festival from 1971-1990. He was also the bass soloist of the Bach Aria Group during the eighties.
