As a failed documentarian, Garvis Thurston sits at a bar somewhere in New York thinking about how to save his career. So far, he has tanked more movies than he can count on one hand, and they wont let him into any A-List Parties. While he stirs over his thoughts, he overhears someone talking about the legendary Jackalope. Before they reach the punch-line, he is already out the door with an air-line representative on the phone. Garvis calls together Noel Bowie and Logan Scottsdale, a pair of recent film grads living on the fruits of the film festival circuit. While on the search for the Jackalope, they encounter local hunting guide Clinton Hughes, who will take them wherever they want to go so long as there is booze involved. They also meet Tr, a neurotic ghost hunter, Paleontologist Dr. Rocky Fossus, and Garvis long time archrival, known only as Director X On their adventure, they will find that the Jackalope is less than willing to perform for cameras. All Garvis wants is to see a Jackalope, Tr wants a cappuccino without foam, Noel wants Garvis to quit calling her David, Clinton wants Noel, and Logan wants a hug. Stagbunny explores the world of the Jackalope with reckless abandon. At its core, the story is about the legend itself, and shows what the mythical icon really means to the people of Douglas, Wyoming, while adding a layer of humor to a legend that is as funny as it is obscure.
